As Linc Davis and all the other posters except the previous one pointed out, stay away from these so-called 'cleaners, boosters, enhancers,' etc. If you have some sort of problem, just state that and more experienced posters will assist you to sort that out. If some functionality does not perform as expected, state your expectation and wysiwyg results so that the delta could be dealt with. From the list above, Log files are important indicators that could point to serious problems and should not just be discarded at will. Lots of posters will ask you for these Logs to pinpoint a problem. Caches are there to speed up your experience, and deleting them all would just lead to some being recreated again, which defies the objective. Obviously deleting the content of the Trash is fine.

I would seriously shy away from almost all the 'solutions' proposed in the second last point, with the exception of Apple's own tools.Leo. Vishal2014 wrote:I haven't tried all of software personally so can't comment exactly which software is surely the best.
But let me tell you there are many Mac cleaner now compared to earlier. Below are some helpful links.Never, never, never provide links to 'cleaners,' 'boosters,' 'optimizers,' 'refreshers,' or 'organizers' on these boards. They are scams. They negatively impact the performance of the computers they are installed on and do far more harm than whatever good they advertise. Apple computers do not need that junk, and it's wildly irresponsible to claim that they do. I am using an old PPC iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11I tend to avoid so called 'disk cleaners' and 'disk optomisers' etc; but one, (OK!
I admit it, three), I do find and work without giving me stress/headache is. OnyXavailable from (also available on other sites). The other two other useful apps from the same site are Maintenance and Deeper and are parts of OnyX. It is not neccessary to have all three, but for a quick clean/optomise then having them as separate apps too is a bonus if you want a quick clean/optomise.Best part of all. They are all free! When I go to the App store, Dr Cleaner is not free. I think it said $14.99. My mac mini has been crashing by itself, apps won't open says they quit unexpectedly, sometimes the mac won't restart unless I hold down the button for a while.
Mac Cleaner enables you to monitor your Mac usage and clean up junk files, unneeded files or large/old files, delete duplicate finders, shred files and uninstall apps from iMac/MacBook to free up much space.
My net gear WIFI say it quit and I wasn't even using it. All kinds of problems. I upgraded High Sierra from 10.13 to 10.13.1 and it's a little better.
But when things happen I have to reboot the mac every time. Do you think the Dr Cleaner will help clean up my hard drive, I'm not that computer savvy. I wouldn't use any cleaning program on my computer. They often delete required item and can ruin your computer's normal operation.Try running this program in your normal account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor.
Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer.
No personal information is shown. I use Chrome for my web browser. I have banner ads popping up all over most web pages I open - the ads are from 'mycouponize'. These ads cover web page script and they cannot be removed. I have spent hours online trying to find a solution to eliminate these ads (malware???). Please offer some insight and guidance as to how I can remove this problem from my Mac.I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2010) w/ 8GB memory, running MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.1.

BigShaneB, I recomend you get the ap.I didn’t buy a PC laptop to do what I do simply because they don’t make one. My MacBook Pro was a sizable investment, and it works flawlessly with the aps i use daily. Pro-Tools, Illistrator, Premier,After FX, PhotoShop, you get the idea.
These applications arent made to run well on Entree Level machines, they just don’t. Even a top of the line Mac will eventually dog down to the speed of a Surface if you don’t stay on top of memory and disk health. So any audio/video pro will tell you, your computer is your life blood, if it chokes out on you while processing 3 sec of content because you didn’t have your memory clean, or disk optimized, it’s not the computers fault it’s yours. This ap does a great job at keeping proformance levels optimum, gives you the sight into hidden little files that were snuck into areas you wouldn’t normally look, and gives you the ability to delete them before they cause problems.
I also like having a way to end process’s that have hung up without having to re-start my whole computer. So in conclusion, this ap does what it says it does, and it does it all pretty well.
Your still going to need to buy a few other tools to truly stay up on performance of your box, but this one is a must. Loud green gas, Pretty SweetI purchased this application on sale for 5.99$ a few months ago, which I use on a 2015 Macbook air, as well as both a 2009 and 2016 Mac mini. I usually use this tool once or twice a week, and each time I would estimate I reclaim upwards of a gigabyte of space. I would definitely recommend the app to my friends and family, because it is very user friendly and it helps you mindlessly reclaim a lot of otherwise wasted space on your Mac. Before the app erases your junk files it does a scan and presents certain areas which over time typically get congested with random BS, such as downloads, trash, caches etc. After that you uncheck any which do not need to be cleaned, and finish by just clicking “Clean.”. Lec0rsaire, Fast, simple and a great value!I picked this up for 99 cents and it was truly a bargain for how efficient this app is.
I’m sure there are tons of others that can do a similar or even more thorough job, but for the needs of most people this is just perfect. Very clean GUI. Simple selection of what you want to delete and very accurate. Will not touch anything that can make any program or the OS unstable. In short this is a must have. Some people will say that crap cleaners are useless and that every modern OS takes care of this but I’m old school and believe in keeping my machines clean either manually or with the aid of an app.
If you buy just one app from the App Store, this should definitely be at the top of the list.
